They work with patients individually or in group settings to provide healing in a more spiritual way. How To Become A Holistic Nurse
Holistic nurses need to attend a university or college to earn their BSN or ADN. After earning their degree, they are qualified to sit for their state’s NCLEX-RN examination. Similarly to RN’s, these types of nurses must pass the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX-RN) to be able to legally practice medicine. With the BSN or ADN, they will be eligible for entry-level nursing work. In nursing, it is preferred in most places of employment to have a bachelor’s degree. To obtain a higher pay range, nurses can earn a master’s degree in holistic nursing.
Where Do They Work?
Many holistic nurses focus on private practices rather than a hospital setting. As they find this more personal and aligned with their spiritualistic belief with medicine. Some holistic nurses will work independently with patients and visit their homes for healing care. Although there are some who are in traditional hospital settings, with the number being on the lower end. In traditional medicine in a hospital, nurses look to identify the source of bacteria, viruses, diseases, etc and immediately provide treatment for patient care. Whereas, holistic medicine seems to be a slower process of finding out all the information; likely at the patient’s home.
What Is The Difference Between Holistic and Traditional Nursing?
While both types of medicine focus on restoring the patient to proper health, they achieve it through different means. A holistic nurse will focus on the patient’s emotional health such as recently going through a divorce or other emotional or physical trauma. Then treat the patient based on the source of their unease. While traditional medicine will focus on exposure to germs and bacteria as a source of their illness, and looking at genetics to see which conditions and diseases they are predisposed to. One method of medicine will likely align more with your views or beliefs, however, people are free to choose how they want to be treated.
